In this exhibition, Van As invites us into a quiet world of plants, flowers, and remote landscapes. Places untouched by human presence, where time feels suspended. Her work captures nature in its most intimate and elusive forms: a petal enlarged, a horizon barely held by the page.
Painting becomes an act of deep observation—a solitary pause to witness what often goes unnoticed. Flowers and plants are lifted from their natural scale and softly abstracted in pale pastel tones, emerging like memories from mist. Some pieces are bordered in white, like still frames or pages from an old photo album—holding space for stillness, distance, and longing.
At a time when the natural world feels increasingly fragile, Van As’s work becomes more than a visual archive. It is a gentle plea: for attention, for care, for remembering what we stand to lose.
